Brandon Chubb (born October 21, 1993) is an American football linebacker who is currently a free agent. He played college football at Wake Forest. Chubb was signed by the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2016, later playing mostly for the Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Carolina Panthers.

Early years

Chubb is older brother of Bradley Chubb, who plays for the for the Denver Broncos, and cousins with Nick Chubb, who plays for the Cleveland Browns.[1]

Chubb attended Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Georgia. As a senior, he switched from defensive end to linebacker, translating to greater success on the field.[2]

College career

After redshirting in 2011, Chubb appeared in all 12 games coming off the bench in 2012 and recorded 22 total tackles. Chubb entered his sophomore season in 2013 as a starter and started all 12 games, finishing the year with 88 total tackles and one interception.[3] Chubb again entered his junior season in 2014 as the starter at linebacker. He recorded a career-best 109 total tackles with 6.5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks.

Chubb returned as a starter his senior year in 2015. Over the course of the season, he recorded 94 total tackles including a career-best 8.5 tackles for loss. Chubb would receive First Team All-ACC honors at the linebacker position in his final year. [2][3]

Los Angeles Rams

Chubb originally signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2016[4], but was waived on September 3 as part of final cuts.[5]He was signed to the practice squad the following day before ultimately being cut on September 12.[6]

Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions added Chubb to their practice squad on October 18,[7] but he was cut on November 28.[8]The Lions chose to add him back to the practice squad on November 30, before he was again released on December 17.[9]

San Francisco 49ers

Chubb was picked up by the San Francisco 49ers practice squad on December 20, 2016.[10]

Detroit Lions (second stint)

On January 12, 2017, Chubb signed a Reserve/Future contract with the Detroit Lions.[11]On May 30, he was designated as waived/injured by the Lions and placed on injured reserve.[12]Chubb was again waived by the team on May 8, 2018, being officially cut the following day.[13]

Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans signed Chubb on August 7, 2018,[14] before he was waived on August 21.[15]

Indianapolis Colts

On August 27, 2018, Chubb was signed by the Indianapolis Colts.[16]He was waived by the Colts on September 1 as part of final roster cuts, being officially released the following day.[17]

Carolina Panthers

Chubb was picked up on October 9, 2018 as a member of the Carolina Panthers' practice squad.[18]On December 31, the Panthers would sign their entire practice squad, including Chubb, to Reserve/Future contracts.[19]The Panthers announced on July 24, 2019 that Chubb would be placed on the PUP list to begin training camp for the Template:NFL Year Season due to an unspecified knee injury.[20]He was waived by the Panthers on August 1, and placed on injured reserve the following day after clearing waivers.[21]Chubb was officially released from injured reserve on August 9, 2019 after reaching an undisclosed injury settlement with the Panthers' organization.[22]
