The two teams have played each other 22 times, including 21 matches in the IPL and 1 match in the CLT20. Overall, CSK has won 13 times, KXIP has won 8 times, with one match ending in a tie.[1]

Background

The first time these two teams from neighboring states of India met in the IPL was on 19 April 2008. That time CSK won by 18 runs. It was a run-scoring fest as CSK scored a massive total of 240 runs in 20 overs while KXIP led a brave challenge but they just fell short as they scored 207 runs on.[2] [3]
