Dheepa Ramanujam (born August 31), is an Indian film actress and director.
Dheepa Ramanujam started her career in the media industry as a TV host in 1995. She has acted in popular television serials including Premi by renowned director K. Balachander. Around that time, Bombay Gnanam of Mahalakshmi ladies group introduced Dheepa to the stage.
After moving to USA, she took courses on direction and film making. She founded Krea, a Bay Area based theater group. Dheepa has directed 9 full length productions and multiple shows across USA and Edmonton, Canada. She is currently directing a futuristic science fiction play 'Chillu" written by Era Murukan to be staged in September in Chennai and in November in USA.
Dheepa has directed a few short films and also worked as Script Supervisor in a couple of Tamil films that were shot in USA. She has directed a documentary series on temples in Madurai, that was aired in Vijay TV. In addition she has produced a documentary for an educational institution both in English and Tamil
She is currently acting in Tamil movies while waiting for her debut directorial venture to take off.
Dheepa did her Masters in Food and Nutrition from Women's Christian College, Chennai. She was working as a Dietitian in a private hospital before getting into media.
She is married to Ramanujam A Thirumalai and they have one daughter. Dheepa's family lives in Fremont, California and she shuttles between Chennai and USA balancing her profession and family. She is fortunate to have a family who supports her in all her endeavors.
