Girish Mathrubootham (born March 29, 1975) is an Indian entrepreneur and angel investor. He is the founder and CEO of Freshdesk Inc., a cloud-based customer engagement software company.[1][2] Girish studied engineering at SASTRA University, and did his MBA from Madras University.
Before starting Freshdesk, he worked at Zoho Corporation for close to a decade, and was the Vice President of Product Management of their ManageEngine division.[3][4] He founded Freshdesk in 2010 following a nightmarish customer experience[5] from his personal life that involved shipping his TV from the USA to India.[6][7] In October 2010, along with his then Technical Architect, Shan Krishnasamy, he quit Zoho and founded Freshdesk. Originally working out of a conference room inside a friend's office, then a 700-sq-ft warehouse in the outskirts of Chennai with their own funds.[8][9]
Girish picked Rajnikanth as his company's unofficial mascot and he can be seen throughout the Freshdesk's office walls.[10][11]
Family
Girish is married and lives with his wife and two children in Chennai, India.[12]
