Miss Intercontinental Sri Lanka is an annual Miss Sri Lanka beauty pageant that is Internationally licensed by WBO based in Aruba with the Sri Lankan Franchise of Miss Sri Lanka being owned by Roshan Perera.[1][2][3]


History

After the Brutal 30 year war and the dawn of peace the nation was able to hold a grand beauty pageant represented by girls from all communities and geographical areas including the north.[4] Sri Lanka was first represented in 2012 for the Grand Finals in Germany by Ayomi Vithanage [5] thereafter the pageant was held annually gradually growing in popularity and in 2016 the miss sri lanka pageant became the countries foremost beauty pageant [6] which led to recognition of the Island being a viable place for even International events. The current Miss Intercontinental is Tracy Ann Dezilva who was crowned on the 1 July 2016 at the Colombo Hilton,[7]

International acclaim

as a result of the success of Miss Sri Lanka for miss intercontinental and becoming the most Popular Beauty pageant in the Island nation, it is now making unprecedented history by having the first ever international beauty pageant with over 70 Beauty Queens participating from all over the world in the 45th Miss intercontinental Pageant.[8] [9]

Competition formats

Entries for the pageant are for girls between the ages of 16–25 with a minimum height of 5ft 3in. The best 15 will be chosen for the pageant. All contestants go through rigorous training programs aided by experts from the fields of fashion and beauty.

from the entries 15 contestants are chosen and an audit firm is enlisted to ensure transparency and a high code of ethics[10], the pageant is organized by the nations foremost charity organization[11] which has helped the pageant achieve unprecedented heights while all proceeds are donated to charity [12][13]
