The parent group, Volare Air Group, acquired the intellectual property, including trademarks, of the original Northeast Airlines in 2014, and announced in mid 2015 that it had filed an application for certification with the Federal Aviation Administration. The new airline intends to launch charter flights, possibly with a leased with Boeing 737-400 aircraft, with the first flights slated to connect Buffalo Niagara International Airport in New York with the southern US.[2]
