Rainer Weichbrodt (born 25 April 1957) is a German economist, businessman and management consultant, best known as founder of the MID, Management Institut Dortmund, Germany, called "das MID" [1] He is the author of several articles[2] and got few awards,[3] for example knowledge manager of the year 2003[4] , elected by the Financial Times Deutschland. He is a strong supporter of Enterprise 2.0 and Sustainable Business Excellence. He works with owners and top managers of mid-sized companies on strategic and organisational issues.
Early life and education
Weichbrodt was born in Duisburg, in the German state of North Rhine-Westfalia, to Walter Weichbrodt and Anneliese Weichbrodt née Thüs. He was inspired by his father, who was an IT Specialist and Human Ressource Manager with a big heart for employees. Weichbrodt studied economics at Mercator University Duisburg and computer science at University Hagen and later at International School of Management (ISM) Dortmund. He is married with to children and lives in Dortmund.
Career
After graduation Weichbrodt worked as a Manager, head of controlling, at Siemens rail systems in Krefeld, Germany. From 1990 to 2011 he was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at several companies in the market of environmental technologies.[5] In 1999 he was founder of the think!tank Gesellschaft für Zukunftsgestaltung mbH. think!tank developed the Management expert system PAMELA(R) as a part of an internet based social collaboration platform. In 2011 he founded the MID. Weichbrodt has several certifications,[6] for example he is certified business excellence assessor by the European Foundation for Quality Management(EFQM)
