Zoe Ansari also known as Z. Ansari or Zille Hasnain (1925–1991)[1] was a prolific Urdu writer, critic, Poet and Litterateur. He was also an expert of the Russian language and Literature. He translated many works of Dostoevsky, Anton Chekhov and Alexander Pushkin.[2] He belonged to the Progressive Writers Movement India and was a communist for the majority of his life.[3][4] He later denounced his connection with communism.[5]

Zoe Ansari has done translations of the works of the following Russian writers & Poets.[6]

Alexander Pushkin

Ansari also conducted programs in Hindi on the prestigious All India Radio in 1981.[7] He spoke mainly on the issues of the growing poverty in India and was an advocate for communist ideas.

Amir Khusrow

Zoe Ansari has also produced a comprehensive work on Amir Khusrow, titled Khusrow ka zehni safar or Life, Times and Works of Amir Khusrow Dehlavi.[8][9][10][11][12]. Zoe Ansari has also contributed to the study of Hindustani Music, or Indian Classical Music based in light of his work on Khusrow. [13][14]
