Musical artist

Madhuraa Bhattacharya (Bengali:মধুরা ভট্টাচার্য্য) is an Indian playback singer, born in Kolkata,West Bengal,India,who has mesmerized many of her listeners by her unique way of singing.She was formerly well known as Nilakshi Bhattacharya,changing her name in the month of December 2013. Madhuraa Bhattacharya rose to widespread prominence and became a household name with the singing of the title track of one of the most popular TV serials, Maa (drama serial),on Star Jalsha.The serial got so popularity, specially for her song, that it was remade in Hindi as Meri Maa which used to air on Life Ok the title track of which was again of Madhuraa Bhattacharya.

Early Life

Madhuraa Bhattacharya was born on 17th March in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Her father Shri Tushar Kanti Bhattacharya M.A.(Mod. Hist.), LL.B belongs to Higher Judicial Service. Getting transferred was a must for his pattern of job that made Madhuraa to visit various districts all across India.Apart from his career as a Judge, her father is also a celebrated Writer, Novelist and approved Radio Play Writer of the All India Radio.Her mother Smt. Sampa Bhattacharya an approved B-High Artist of All India Radio. Madhuraa being the grand daughter of an excellent Vocalist Shri Sadhanananda Misra and grand grand daughter of a beautiful singer with a mesmerizing voice quality, late Santimoyee Debi),involvement of her with music was not that beyond unacceptable in the family.


Madhuraa in due course was admitted in Lake Town Govt. Sponsored Girls’ High School.Scoring star marks in her Secondary Examination in 2004,B. D. Govt. High School, Salt Lake was the eventual institution for her Higher Secondary Studies. In 2006 she passed H.S. with high first division marks with Music as one of her selective subjects. Madhuraa is taking Hindusthani Classical Music Training under the strict and disciplined guidance and care of Mr.Sandip Nag. As a passionate lover of music ,Rabindra Bharati University was the next reach point of her for graduation in the stream of Music.She scored the highest mark in Honors and was declared 1st Class 1st while standing 1st Class 1st in Masters in the same stream afterwards.

Music Training

Shri Asit Mukhopadhyay, Nitish Dutta Roy, Shubhamita Banerjee, Swapna Dey, Prof.Papri Ghosh, Prof. Kankana Mitra were the ones who trained Madhuraa at the very onset.Her voice training while was in Unish-Kuri Madhur Kantha , her voice training was done by eminent celebrated Vocalists like Haimanti Shukla, Babul Supriyo, Rupankar Bagchi, Miss Jojo, Prasant Samaddhar.Sitaron Ko Choona Hai is next in the list where she received voice training from reputed Vocalists like Ananth Vaidyanathan, Prasant Samadhar, Neha Bhasin.


2005-The Beginning

All Bengal Sachin Dev Burman Music Competition is the starting point of as professional whereb she achieved 2nd position.In the She was again taken to the light when in 2006 she got listed in “Top 10” for an All Bengal Music Competition, “Unish Kuri Madhur Kantha” organized by Dabur Honeytus at the behest of Ananda Bazar Patrika . In 2007, she stood on the platform of Sony TVIndian Idol 3” to again flood the world with her uniqueness up to theatre round. In January, 2009 finally the real Madhuraa Bhattacharya was born while joining the All India Music Competition “Sitaron Ko Choona Hai” sponsored by Miditech in Real Channel. She proved herself there bagging the Runners-up title after a short living of 5 months there.
Playback Singing

2005 was the year of her starting as a professional when she stepped into her musical career as Playback Singer in the Bengali Mega Serial “Bonhi Sikha” on Colors Bangla. She started Playback singing in Bengali Films with Udit Narayan and Babul Supriyo in “Mahakal” in the year 2008, followed by her Playback renderings with the galaxy of eminent singers like Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Kumar Sanu, Zubeen Garg, Javed Ali and Arijit Singh. She has worked with Bollywood Tollywood Music Directors like Jeet Ganguly, Indraadip Das Gupta, Debojyoti Mishra, Debjit Roy, Dev Sen, Akash, Samidh Mukerjee, Rishi Chanda, Asok Raaj, Samik Chakraborty, Sandip Kar, Om Arup, Chandan Roychowdhury, Subhash Dey and Many other reputed Music Directors.

Contribution to TV Serial Title Tracks

Once a time there was when TV serials didn't show up with any opening theme song or title tracks.Time has got changed making viewers get a soothing and at the same time conceptual title track of any TV Serial.Despite having a loaded schedule of playbacking in Bengali Films,Madhuraa Bhattacharya has shown her splendid versatility power in this field performing a huge number of title tracks for the Bengali TV Serials of three leading TV channels of Kolkata,West Bengal - Star Jalsha,Zee Bangla and Colors Bangla and for many other channels including Life OK.A song less than one minute can make any singer that popular, Madhuraa Bhattacharya is the clear evidence.Title track of Maa (drama serial),Bojhena Se Bojhena of Star Jalsha and Raage Anuraage of Zee Bangla contributed the largest brick in building her popularity and fan-followers.


Madhuraa made a great achievement on being selected as an approved artist of All India Radio in 2009 for the stream Ghazal, Bhajan and Shyama Sangeet.The Republic of China selected and imvited her there to participate in the 10th Asia Art Festival in September, 2008. old Hindi Songs of the Golden Era together with the Chinese Songs taught by the Chinese team got some realms of magical touch in her voice performing there. This 10th Asia Art festival was celebrated in 14th States of China like Beijing, Zhengzhou, Guangzhou, Baotou, Mongolia etc. In 2014, She has been upgraded in the stream of Shyama Sangeet Bhajan by the All India Radio.

Other Achievements

She Is Invited As Guest Celebrity Singer In The Biggest Musical Show Of Bengal "Song Connection" where rendering an old song of the Asha Bhosle with some other fusions. On A Very Poular Bengali Channel Zee Bangla Cinema. She Is The Winner Of Two Most Popular Game Show Of Two Most Poular Bengali Channel In Celebrity Singer's Special Episode, Konney Tui Megastar On Star Jalsha (2012) And Didi No. 1 On Zee Bangla twice (2014) and (2015).
