The 2013 tennis season of Maria Sharapova officially began on 14 January 2013 with the start of the 2013 Australian Open. Sharapova began the season ranked the number 2 player in the world behind Victoria Azarenka.

This was a disappointing season for Sharapova.[1] It was marked by her injuries, first to the collar bone at the start of the year and then a shoulder injury kept her out of matches at the end.[2] [3]
