Javier López Iglesias (born 13 April 1989), commonly known as Camochu, is a Spanish footballer who currently plays as a forward for Auckland City.
A product of the Sporting Gijón academy, Camochu has spent the majority of his career in Segunda División B, the third level of the Spanish football league system.
Football career
Born in the Asturian parish of Boal, Camochu was a product of Sporting de Gijón's youth ranks, and competed with their B-team in the 2008 Trofeo Emma Cuervo.[1] Released by the club having appeared in limited fixtures with the B-team, he then joined Tercera División side Marino de Luanco, helping them to second place in the league.[2]
He moved up a division to Caudal Deportivo in Segunda División B, and following a productive season, signed a professional contract with Celta de Vigo being assigned to the B-team; after falling just short in the playoffs to the Segunda División, he moved clubs again, signing for Real Avilés in 2013.[3]
Following years of playing at various clubs in Segunda División B, Camochu made his first overseas move in 2018, signing for ISPS Handa Premiership champions Auckland City.[4]
