Template:Infobox pageant titleholder Mary Jean Ramirez Lastimosa (born 23 November 1987), also known as MJ Lastimosa, is a Filipino businesswoman, actress and model who won the Binibining Pilipinas 2014 national pageant as Miss Universe Philippines 2014. She represented the Philippines at the Miss Universe pageant held in Doral, Florida, United States on 25 January 2015 where she finished among the Top 10 finalists.

Early and personal life

Lastimosa is from North Cotabato, Mindanao in the southern Philippines where she was raised in a very religious household.[1] Her father is Saudi Arabian businessman Saud al-Shabrami while her mother is Marites Lastimosa, a Filipino.[2] She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Mindanao and works as a computer engineer and entrepreneur.[3] She is a fitness advocate[4] and owns a fitness/spa/slimming center in Davao City. PeTA named her as the Philippines' Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity for 2014.[1][5]

Lastimosa is a practicing Roman Catholic.[6]

Pageant career

Having previously competed in the Binibining Pilipinas pageant twice before with minimal success, Lastimosa finally won the Miss Universe Philippines crown in her third and final eligible attempt in 2014. She was crowned by outgoing Miss Universe Philippines 2013 and Miss Universe 2013 third runner-up Ariella Arida and Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler,[7] thus earning the right to represent the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2014 where she ended up in the Top 10.[8]
