Template:Other people Susan Weber was the trustee and president for the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District board. She is the co-founder of the San Lorenzo Valley Foundation for Education. She has been a member of the member of the Ben Lomond Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and she also been a candidate for the Ben Lomond Fire District’s board of directors.

Background

Webber has lived in San Lorenzo Valley since around the mid-1980s.[1] She is married to Bryan Weber and is the mother of two sons, Max and Alex. Her youngest son Alex graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High in 2010. [2]

Career

In 2001, she was appointed to the San Lorenzo Valley School Board.[3] In 2010, she vacated her position as trustee for the board, which she had been on for nine years.[4] During her time with the board she held the position of board president for three years.[5]

At the age of 55, she ran as a candidate for the Ben Lomond Fire District’s board of directors. She was no stranger to the fire dept. Her husband Bryan was the Chief for a year and had been on the Ben Lomond fire team for 25 years. One of her sons at the time was a firefighter with the dept. She had also been a member of the Ben Lomond Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.[6] In that race she received 587 votes. She came fourth with 18.2%, just behind Tom Maxson who came third with 19.9% of the votes. Morgan Scarborough won with 28.3%, beating incumbent Dave Bingham who had 20.3%.[7][8]

In 2011, she had expressed interest in running for the Santa Cruz County Supervisor District 5 election.[9] The following year, she entered the primaries for the Santa Cruz County Supervisor District 5 election.[10][11] She was the only woman on the ballot to run. She did qualify for the ballot but then withdrew from the race.[12] In spite of not actively running, she still appeared on the ballot.[13] As a result she had 5.5 percent in the early vote tallies.[14] In November, Bruce McPherson was elected to the position.[15] She was one of the people who endorsed Bruce McPherson in the election.[16]
