Early life

Acosta was born in New York City. His family moved to Troy, NY where he graduated from high school. Found his love of art through old Dungeons & Dragons rule books.[2]

He attended Rochester Institute of Technology to obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration.

Acosta has worked in the online and mobile games industry since 2010. He worked on a number of flash and mobile games.

He worked for a year as a board game artist for the company SimplyFun.

Hex Lovers

His most notable work is the fantasy webcomic Hex Lovers. He illustrates and writes the comic himself. The comic is a mix of cute interactions, fantastical adventures, and real life moments. He has said that the comic is loosely based on moments from his life.

Abducted By Sharks

Before starting Abducted By Sharks, Acosta created hundreds of songs under many monikers. It wasn't until after he graduated college he started using one name. Abducted By Sharks started as an electronic chiptune solo project but grew into a futuristic soundscape electronic dance band. The music was mostly created by synthetic means, occasionally his friend Nick Borden would write and record guitar parts for specific tracks.

After releasing five albums as a solo project Nick Borden joined the band.

They released one more full-length album. After the single Braindead was released, the band went on hiatus.

Acosta has written the soundtrack for several indie games most notably Black Annex[3] and The Love Letter.

Acosta's most current musical endeavor is the Depressive Atmospheric Black Metal band Verminlord. The music and lyrics are composed and performed by Teo Acosta.

Due to the sometimes dark history of Black Metal, Acosta has publicly stated the band is anti-NSBM.[4]

"While the lyrical content and guitar-work paint a dark vision of evil wizards, demonology, and vile knowledge. Vermin Lord is vehemently anti-NSBM/neo-nazi/white supremacy or any form of hate/discrimination.[4]"
