Ezeme Hyginus Ikechukwu,[1] popularly known by his stage name Tplay is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur.[2]

Life and career

Tplay was born in Enugu, Nigeria to a family of six with parents who are former teachers.[3] While still a child, he usually disturbed his neighbors by singing loud music all the time until his brother advised him to consider a career in music.[4] His music career began as a producer in Nsukka, Enugu state with Baze music until he moved to Benin where he started dealing in sales of foreign wines.[5]

In 2013, Tplay got signed to Timbaze record label, but it was until 2016 that he released his debut single “Sere”. In 2017, Tplay released another single “Siki” and “Naija to Overseas”. The following year, 2018 saw him partner with Olamide to release “When Money Dey”.[6] In 2019, he sang “Karashika” and “Hold Ya”.[7]

Tplay lists T-pain, Davido and Flavour as artists who have influenced his style of music.[8]
