Vishal Srivastav (born September 23, 1983)[1] is an Indian singer who was one of the contestants on X Factor, first time telecasted in India on Sony Entertainment Television. He was born in Delhi, (India). Srivastav was an Auto Rickshaw driver from Delhi. Vishal came to Delhi from Kanpur with one dream in his eyes to educate his wife and become a singer.[2]

Early life and education

Srivastav was born in 1983 in Delhi, India.He was raised in a poor family and didn’t join education due to economical problems. Srivastav who never got any support from his family as far as music was concerned, was insistent that one day he will make it big and surmount his drems. Srivastav who lost his mother at only age of 8 month, started work as worker on a tea-shop and further he used to work as a cycle ricksaw driver and learnt late at night to drive Auto rickshaw for his livelihood in Delhi. Even Srivastav stayed on footpath at night in those days when he was a cycle ricksaw driver.


In 2011, Srivastav participated in X Factor India which was telecast first time in India on Sony Entertainment Television. For him, X Factor was to prove the Golden way to fulfill his dreams. After the show Srivastav started to sing as professional singer with his own performance.[3] Srivastav also sings in Live Shows. Now he joins many big events and gave live singing performance.[4]

Journey in X Factor

As an Auto Rickshaw driver, Srivastav got his first and dream plateform that was X Factor. His perseverance and pure dedication helped him to make his way and put up an exemplary performance in X Factor on Sony Entertainment Television in the presence of Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghosal and ace director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.[5] Srivastav’s moving performance left three judges amazed and speechless with tears and an emotional Sonu Nigam said, If I had been in your place, I wouldn’t have been able to give a performance like you did. Your dream for your wife will get fulfilled.

Personal life

Srivastav[6] got married in March, 2007 with Ruby Hussain Srivastava. He always had a passion for singing. He used to sing while driving the auto. When he came to audition, his dream was to educate his wife and to see her as a teacher.[7]
