==Life==

Taylor was a [[professor]] of [[English language|English]] at the [[American University of Beirut]] in the 1960s and 1970s. ==The Roman Temples of Lebanon==
He travelled [[Lebanon]] and documented the antiquities, [[Temples of Lebanon|temples]] and little known ancient sites and in 1967 published a book called '''The Roman Temples of Lebanon: a pictoral guide''' containing rare and  information on an understudied subject.<ref name="Kaizer2008">{{cite book|author=Ted Kaizer|title=The Variety of Local Religious Life in the Near East In the Hellenistic and Roman Periods|url=http://books.google.com/books?id=KgVD3WL0vAsC&pg=PA76|accessdate=2 November 2012|year=2008|publisher=BRILL|isbn=978-90-04-16735-3|pages=76–}}</ref> He divided up the temples into three groups; [[Temples of Mount Hermon]], [[Temples of the Beqaa Valley]] and [[Temples of the Lebanese coastal plain]]. Taylor humbly admitted that he was only an amateur at trying to unravel the ancient mysteries of Lebanon and referred to his publication as a ''"book by an amateur, for an amateur"''. This has not stopped it being used as an authoritative reference on the subject for several decades.<ref name="Kaizer2008"/>
