Robert Edward Franklin "REF" (born 1969 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania) is a 20th-century American visual artist with a style reminiscent to Jean Dubuffet. He is best known for his paintings on wood panels, combining an array of collage and graffiti based on his own universe of symbols usually suspended in a thick layer oil or acrylic paints. While he has been creating art in various forms throughout his life it was not until 2001 that he started creating his art on a full-time basis.
