Layla Sarakalo is an American radio host and fashion designer.
Sarakalo had a classical education, studying Art History with Richard Tansey at San Jose State, father of the painter Mark Tansey, then studied the history of photography with Beaumont Newhall at the [[University of New Mexico]. At the International Folk Art Museum, Santa Fe Layla worked with the curator in collections in textile restorations where she learned to use Elmer's Glue with fabric. She also lived in Paris, France for a number of years where she hosted the nightly show "Radio Free Gypsy" on KLOD 96.6, the only English-language radio station in Paris. Sarakalo later opened her own small fashion house in Paris located near the Rodin Museum.
In 2005 she was revealed to fans of the television and film series Star Trek as the "Mystery Woman" who speaks with Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) and Chekov (Walter Koenig) in a scene from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
