Peregrine Broadbent (1964 – March 29, 2020) was an English-American executive who was the chief financial officer (CFO) of the Jefferies Group from 2007 till his death.[1]

Early life and education

Broadbent, a native of the United Kingdom, grew up in London and the southwest England county of Dorset.[2]

Broadbent earned an BSc accounting degree from the University of Exeter.[3]


Broadbent started his career as an accountant at Coopers & Lybrand, a predecessor of the firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.[3] Later, he joined Morgan Stanley in 1991 where he served for 16 years till 2007.[4][5]

In 2007, Broadbent joined Jefferies and remained chief finance officer till his death. During Broadbent's tenure, he is known for helping to double the size of the company.[5][6]

On March 29, 2020, Broadbent died at the age of 56 due to COVID-19 complications.[6][1]
