Mudd began his career with Colchester United following a successful trial in the summer of 2015 . He broke into Colchester's under-18 side while still a schoolboy and went on to be a regular fixture at the back end of the 2016/2017 season.
Notably Reuben went on to make his under-23 debut against Hull City in the same season followed by a further appearance against Huddersfield Town.
Mudd signed a formal contract aged 14 at Colchester united after a successful trial with the club. He went on to feature predominately for both the under-15 and under-16 sides throughout the year and managed to score an impressive 25 goals in his first season of academy football.
In his second full season at Colchester United, Mudd went on to replicate his success and after being called up to the under-18 side, he scored the winning goal in a 3-2 win against Norwich City after coming on as a second half substitute. Mudd later scored a brace against Crew Alexandra F.C under-18's in a 3-2 defeat.  In March 2017 Mudd was as named as a substitute for the under-23 side in the Premier League cup vs Hull City. He made an instant impression and was unfortunate not to score as he came off the bench in the 90th minuite only to hit the crossbar from 25 yards out.  Mudd earned a further call up to the under23 squad in April 2017 playing 30 minutes as a second half substitute against Huddersfield Town. He finished the season with an impressive 27 goals across three separate age groups.
Born In Norwich, Norfolk, on the 2nd November 2000, Mudd moved to Clacton ,Essex at the age of 11. He signed for Clacton Town and was prolific over two seasons for the club. He moved on to Holland F.C and scored an incredible 62 goals in his solitary season there.  Mudd was invited to play in a Chelsea F.C development squad and subsequently sparked interest from Colchester United, Ipswich Town and Norwich City. He was offered a trial in the summer of 2015 at Colchester United and went on to score 10 times during this period. He was immedialty signed by the club and went on to score 52 goals in two season as a schoolboy. Mudd was offered an early scholarship in December 2017 and went on to break into both the under-18 and under-23 sides.
Style of play
Mudd has been described as an "old fashioned traditional centre forward" by Academy coaches at Colchester United. A natural goalscorer, Mudd is known for his tremendous work rate. He is quick, powerful and has the ability to link up play and bring his team mates into the game.
