Al Falta (Arabic: Al Falta – الفلتة) is a Kuwaiti comedy show filmed in 2011, set in the 1950’s.

The series revolves around matters within Kuwait at the end of the 1950’s. The main character is Bu Khalifa, played by Tariq Al Ali, who is a man in his fifties. He is advanced in knowledge concerning old, Arabic medicines; he is also the neighbourhood barber and a doctor. Bu Khalifa became famous for his orthodontic skills, child purification, branding and orthopedic skills. Also, he excelled in treating the eyes and chanting hymns to protect an individual and ward off evil spirits. Due to his well roundedness, he manages to solve people’s problems, hence his popular reputation. We see comedic scenes that involve realistic problems the viewers can relate to which are all conveyed by Bu Khalifa’s characteristics. He is portrayed as a really kind person, which reflects the reality of the people of the 1950’s, and depicts the kindness of the neighbourhood and how they manage to help each other in good times and bad.
