Template:COI Template:Infobox organization The Foundation (known as is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in East Aurora, NY that provides carbon offsetting and greenhouse gas reduction options to individuals, businesses, and organizations.[1] Foundation purchases and retires certified carbon offsets on behalf of its donors. Donors are given a choice of project type to which they may donate, including renewable energy, reforestation, and energy efficiency projects. Foundation is a member of the Chicago Climate Exchange [2] and is a Founding Member of the American Carbon Registry. also operates a traditional, coed summer camp in New Hampshire. Camp Quinebarge was founded in 1936, and was purchased by in 2012. President Eric Carlson is an alumnus of Quinebarge and now serves at Executive Director alongside Co-Directors Nick Hercules and Liz Schwartzer. Quinebarge is a traditional camp with an emphasis on nature/environmental education. [3]

Certification Foundation exclusively supports projects that are certified by third parties, including Environmental Resources Trust, the Climate, Community & Biodiversity Alliance, Voluntary Carbon Standard and the Chicago Climate Exchange.[4]

Portfolio Foundation supports three types of carbon projects: renewable energy, energy efficiency, and reforestation.[5]

  • Carbon Credit Retirement purchased carbon financial instruments from the now closed Chicago Climate Exchange and retired them.

Impact Foundation offers offsets at $10.00 per metric ton.[4] As of December 2008, Foundation is offsetting over 1.8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.[15]

Major partnerships

According to its website, Foundation has worked with over 2,000 small, medium, and large businesses since its inception, including Dell,[16] Allstate,[17] Orbitz,[18] JetBlue,[19]Budget Car Rental, LG, United States Environmental Protection Agency,[20] Amtrak[21] and Discovery Communications.[22]
