Ila Pant is the daughter-in-law of Bharat Ratna Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant. Ila Pant is married to K.C. Pant.

Ila Pant is the first woman to have won a Parliamentary (12th Lok Sabha) election from the State of Uttarakhand by defeating a Former Union Finance Minister. Ila Pant is the Chairperson of the Bharat Ratna Govind Ballabh Pant Society Ila Pant and the Society Members awarded the Bharat Ratna GB Pant Best Parliamentarian Award to former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Former Home Minister Shri Indrajit Gupta.
